Hi, my name is Esayas Nida. I'm originally from Ethiopia, East Africa. I currenlty live in Charlotte, NC. Before that I lived in Reidsville, NC for about 5 years. Running has been a part of my life ever since I started walking. But, when I was in high school, after watching Ethiopian Olympic athletes, I started running for purpose--to stay healhty and maybe some day, with God's help, make it to the Olympics. I started doing 5K races, once or twice a week in addition to my daily straining. Then I advanced to 10K, half marathons, and full marathons. Eventually, I increased my training to 50-60 miles per week. I participated in many races that were held in the Triad area and in other cities like Danville, VA and Charlotte, NC. I've run more than 10 half marathons and 5 full marathons so far, including Tobacco Road Marathon, which I qualified for Boston 2020. My love for running is so powerful that it infected my brother and little sister and they too are now avid runners. I am always learning something new from the races I do and the people I meet.
I am honored to be one of the 2019 RunTheBoro Pace Guide Leaders . I am participating for the first time this year. RunTheBoro serves as a platform for the Greensboro area runners to meet each other and continue to encourage each other. I challenge every city to adopt the idea.
Hi I’m Cindy. I currently live in Greensboro, NC. I have run so many different distances all my life and all over the United States. Since turning 45 I have raced every distance from the 100 meter dash to several 24 hour ultras. My loyalties lie in the mile, but I have managed to carve out a nice running life running all distances. I turned 50 a couple of years ago and I am now designing what I want to accomplish in my fifties. In my 40’s I competed in 7 ultra marathons. There is nothing like the thrill of willing the body to do what the mind commands. The running friends I have met and ran with are like one big family.
I love pacing races because there is nothing more rewarding for me than to see my runners achieve their goals. Whether it is a PR (personal record) race, or trying to get back in running shape the runners are grateful for my bubbly personality and constant uplifting chatter. I try to impart my 40+ years of running knowledge (as well as my degree in Exercise Science and running coach certification) along the way and make my runners feel confident.
RunTheBoro has fostered new and old relationships with other runners. I treasure all the people and all the conversations we have while running. Running connects us. Running connects our community and I am grateful to be able to help Thad.
Hi! My name is Anna! I have been running on and off since about 2006, when my sister introduced me to the sport. My very first race was the Greensboro Gobbler. I really got into running though in 2014 when my oldest son was almost 2 and I decided that I wanted to be more active and feel better about myself. I have run countless 5k’s, 10k’s, lots of half marathons and 4 full marathons! This year I am running the Cleveland Marathon (May 20th) and the Chicago Marathon. Running has become a passion and therapy for me!
I participated in Run the Boro for the first time last year and immediately fell in love! My favorite part was running and not caring about pace, but rather meeting new people! I’ve made new running friends because of it. I’m really excited about being a pace guide leader this year!
Hey, I’m Marshall, and I live in Greensboro. I’ve been running for over 10 years, and absolutely loved discovering RunTheboro last May. I love seeing the city on foot and meeting new folks as we run, and RunTheboro inspired me to get my mileage back up for longer runs

Hi, I'm Nick! While having an on again off again affair with running my entire adult life over the course of living in SC and PA; it has been much more passionate since moving to Greensboro about 4 years ago. In fact, that passion was amplified when a co-worker (and fellow pace group leader, Becca Wyrick) encouraged me to come out to my first RunTheBoro in 2018. Since then I’ve become a regular at Saturday morning group runs, have completed 3 Half Marathons (4 more scheduled in 2019) and have added purpose to my passion by using my running to raise money for research of a rare cancer - Clear Cell Sarcoma, which affects my goddaughter in Charleston, SC.
Hi! I’m T.J. and I live in Greensboro. I started running a little over 9 years ago when I met a great influence in my life who told me I would keep off the Freshman fifteen in college if I ran. Five marathons and a bunch of half marathons later, I’m hooked!
RunTheBoro is one of my favorite running events of the year. It’s a great opportunity to meet others in the local running community. The routes throughout Greensboro offer a great opportunity to learn about the city that I currently call home.

My name is Amy and I live in Oak Ridge. I’ve been running all my life, but 99% of that was spent hating it while running as general conditioning or as punishment as part of other sports during my time on high school and college teams. It was not until a couple of years after finishing 4 years of Division I sports that I learned running could be something I enjoyed and chose to do.
Through RunTheBoro, I learned about RunnerDude’s Fitness and all of the great group runs and events that are put on for runners in the Greensboro area. I had no idea there were other crazy people out there that enjoyed waking up before the sun rises to go for a run!
Hi! I'm Mark! I live in Reidsville. I started running 8 years ago. What I love most about RunTheBoro is exploring new routes, seeing the city from a different point of view and running with new people.
Hi, I’m Lori. I moved to Greensboro in 2007 and started running in 2012, when I completed my first half marathon training program with Runner Dude’s Fitness.
I look forward to participating as a pace leader again in 2019 as a way to help support the amazing Run the Boro program that Thad has built – a program that has, with overwhelming success, united runners and the Greensboro community.
Hi, I'm Stan. I live in Greensboro. I started running in earnest about 11 years ago.
Runtheboro is just a great way to see various parts of our city, to get lost in the process and to do it all with others who enjoy starting their weekend off with a good dose of endorphins!
Hi, I'm Pat! I live in Greensboro. I started running back in the dark ages....1977 - to get in shape; hurt really bad at first then got hooked and never stopped (well, except with injuries! I love all the different RunTheBoro routes, seeing parts of town that I don't know, and running with different people than I normally run with. It's a happy crowd
Hello, Matthew Rand here! I started running regularly in 2013. Greensboro has an amazing running community. Its not always easy to get motivated to go run first thing in the morning on your only day to sleep in, but I always look forward to Thad's RunTheboro. The people, the scenery, learning new things about the city we live in. If you haven't tried it, Do It! You got noting to lose and everything to gain. Everyone I've met is awesome, I mean everyone. Thanks Thad, aka RunnerDude!
Hey! My name is Glen and up until last year I only ran regularly on a treadmill for a couple miles at a time. I’ve been loving getting out and seeing the area running the past year and really pushing my mileage. I can’t wait to run with everybody for RunTheBoro!
Hi, my name is Steve Miller and I am a Greensboro native. I started running in August of 2012 as a way to get some exercise. By December of that year I had run my first 5K, and from then on the distances just kept getting longer. I have raced most distances between 5K and marathons and have done two ultras solo; a 12-hour and a 50 miler.
I run quite a bit on my own, so the RunTheBoro runs are a great way to meet other runners and explore the city I have lived in for over five decades. I enjoy both the fellowship of the people and the knowledge of Greensboro that Thad imparts to us through his RunTheBoro Newsletter. I’m looking forward to some great runs in 2019!
Hi, I'm Jody and live in Greensboro with my wife and two children. I'm a native of Minnesota, which most people recognize within 30 seconds speaking with me. I started running in 2013 when my wife Katarina signed me up for the B.A.A. Medley in Boston (5k, 10k, 13.1k). Today I typically run more ultras and trail runs, but enjoy a good road foot race from time to time.
I, like many local runners really look forward to RunTheBoro each year. The energy is so great and it is made up of so many great members of our community. I get to meet up with friends I haven't seen in a while, and also make new friendships. I enjoy running new routes in Greensboro that I don't typically run in my normal training routines. I look forward to the 2019 Run the Boro and to hear other runners' experiences and upcoming races.
Hi! I'm Sandra! I live in Stokesdale. I started running in In 2004. RunTheBoro has taught me more about the city, give me a great workout on Saturday morning and I've made great new (runner) friends. Can’t be better than this! Thank you so much Thad to make this running event every year! I am proud and honored to be part of it.
Hey, my name is Curtis! I am originally from Upstate NY, but have called the triad home for almost 5 years and love it. I have been running for a little over ten years, or roughly when I transitioned from highschool/college athletics to running for fun and stress relief. Running was my outlet during my mother's long battle with breast cancer and my saving grace when her battle ended. I have run many 5k’s, a few 1/2 marathons, and 5 full marathons. My favorite of these races was the Leadville marathon in Leadville, Colorado. This year I am enjoying new running challenges such as trying to beat my longest running streak (61 days) as well as pacing 1/2 marathons and Run the Boro events! I have made so many amazing friends from running and I am a proud member of the High Point Pub Runners (although you may see me at any one of the many groups in the area depending on the week). I'm looking forward to running with you all this summer!
Hi, I'm Julie. I live in Greensboro and started running for 11 years. RunTheBoro is an awesome way to see various parts of our city. I never knew we had so much history until I started running this series. It’s also a great way to meet new and reconnect with old running buddies.

Hi I'm Kara and I live in Greensboro.
I started running regularly in 2009 when some friends decided to run half marathons, and I figured if they could, so could I. I ran through my pregnancy in 2013, and I have made dear friends that I wouldn't have if it weren't for running.
What I love about Run the Boro: I am a Greensboro native, but I've learned so much and I've seen so many parts of the city that I didn't know existed. It even played a role in our decision to move from Oak Ridge back into town; more time enjoying and less time driving!

Hi, I’m Ben Johnson. I live in Stokesdale, NC and have been running with Thad’s group for a little over three years now. During that time, I’ve completed one full marathon, 5 half-marathons, and numerous other races – something I never even dreamed of doing before I started running. This will be my third year participating in RunTheBoro, and my second year as a pacer. RunTheBoro is such a great event because it allows you to see the historic (and artistic) side of Greensboro, all while building new and strengthening existing friendships along the way. This event brings so many great people together and allows them to connect in a way that only runners can. It’s a great overall experience and a lot of fun!
My name is Catherine Healy I live in Kernersville NC and am originally from Greensboro NC. I started running in college when I had to take a beginner's running class because it was the only exercise class that was available and I was required to take 6 to graduate with my degree. I thought I would hate it and I remember it took me forever to finish that first 1.5 mile run they had the class do. Obviously I grew to love running and have been ever since. RunTheBoro is a great way to get to know Greensboro and all of the other great runners that call this beautiful city home. I find the overall energy of RunTheBoro a very supportive atmosphere and enjoy the variety of routes with information on the rich history of our city.
Hi! My name is Nora Soler wife and mother of 2 kids . I’m from Colombia . I moved to Greensboro from Miami, Florida in September 2007.
I started running since 2013 in my neighborhood and Thanks to my friend Courtney who told me about Runnerdude Fitness . I started doing RUNegades since 2018 . Thad is being helping to complete 5 half marathons and I already sign up for my First Full in Richmond Virginia ,
Running has become a passion and a therapy for me! Is like get out of the reality .
RunTheBoro Is the best plan for Saturday’s mornings and a good time to meet runners you can try different paces and learning a lot of Greensboro .
I can’t wait to be part of RunTheBoro and to enjoy!

Hi I'm Dinesh. I live in Greensboro, NC. I started running with the RunnerDude as a beginning runner in January 2016. I went from couch to marathon in about 15 months. Running is more social for me than anything else. It’s the camaraderie with the fellow runners which made RunTheBoro one of my favorite. Other than running, I enjoy cooking, working on cars and hiking.

Hi, my name is Nichole Scuteri. I live in Oak Ridge with my husband, 6 year old daughter, and 9 year old yellow lab. I started running after my daughter was born as a way to workout with her. I worked my way up to a half marathon on my own. Then decided to join RunnerDude's Fitness to train for my second half. After completing that race I joined RUNegades and have not looked back. It has been 4 years, thousands of miles, lots of laughter, grand adventures, and life long friends.
I love RunTheBoro because I get to continually meet new friends and explore our beautiful city.

Hi! I’m Laura, and I live in Greensboro. My running adventure began 12 years ago when my mom, who had recently signed up for her first half marathon, half jokingly asked me to train with her. I had not willingly run a single step since my elementary school playground days, but thinking it sounded like a cool thing to add to and then check off my bucket list, I agreed without hesitation. I discovered a love for the sport during those hours of training beside my mother. It took a few years after moving to Greensboro in 2011 for me to discover RunnerDude’s Fitness, but many miles, races, and friendships later, I have never looked back. Thad’s RunTheBoro series has been a great way to become more familiar with my city and meet other like-footed people. Come join us this year!

Hi! My name is Elisa Thames and I live in Brown Summit. I’ve been running intermittently, fun, non-competitive since my High School/College Days. About 4-5 years ago I decided to run my 1st half marathon and have been running and training with the RunnerDude family since. As a solo runner for most of my life, the transition to group running has been a great way to meet new people and the RTB has created a beautiful avenue to explore the city with folks who share my the passion for running.

Hi, I'm Dorian! I am from Greensboro, NC and went to school at UNCG. I left the country for several years and I am back now for the start of a new career. My running started back in college, but now I am committing my time and energy into growing as a runner. I think RunTheBoro is going to be a great learning experience and I am really looking forward to meeting everyone. Cant wait!
Hi. I’m Becca and I live in Summerfield. I started running a little over 3 years ago. I started with a Couch to 5K training class. As soon as I completed that, I found RunnerDude’s Fitness and the RunTheBoro Group. I have been running with RunnerDude’s Fitness and Runegades ever since. Thad’s training has helped me complete 6 half marathons, 1 full marathon and I’m looking forward to training for another full this fall. I have done RunTheBoro for the last three years and loved it! It has been a great way to meet lots of new running friends. It’s great because there is a pace for everyone. I also love how much I have learned about Greensboro and found places and neighborhoods that I never knew existed. I can’t wait to be a Pace Leader and part of the 2019 RunTheBoro!
Hi! My name is Anna! I have been running on and off since about 2006, when my sister introduced me to the sport. My very first race was the Greensboro Gobbler. I really got into running though in 2014 when my oldest son was almost 2 and I decided that I wanted to be more active and feel better about myself. I have run countless 5k’s, 10k’s, lots of half marathons and 7 marathons! In 2018, I decided that I wanted to run Boston, and qualified in Cleveland! I just returned from running my first Boston Marathon! I highly recommend that experience!!! This will be my third year participating in Run The Boro and second year as a pacer! I am really looking forward to making new running friends! I just came out of a hard training cycle, so a more relaxed atmosphere is needed for me 🙂

Hi! I'm Courtney. I live in Whitsett, NC. I started running in 2016 with the Women’s Running School. I love meeting other runners and learning more about the city I grew up in during RunTheBoro. We have so much history in this city! Married 8 years and have 2 children. Love to travel, try new recipes, and craft.

Hi! I’m Lindsay. I started running after I had my son (7 1/2 years ago). I have learned to really enjoy running, which is something I never thought would be possible. I truly feel the incredible running community in Greensboro and of course Runnerdude’s Fitness is responsible. I hope you will enjoy RunTheBoro as much as I do!

My name is Tina Oliver and I am a Greensboro, NC native. I’ve been a casual runner for decades largely running solo or with one of my canine buddies. Believing that local running groups would be too exclusive and competitive I was reluctant to join but, as you know I couldn’t have been more wrong! About 5 years ago I made the plunge to join an all ladies running group called Breathless Babes and I haven’t looked back. This group introduced me to so much about the Greensboro running community including RUNegades with Thad McLaurin’s Runnerdudes and the ever popular Runtheboro. Thanks to all the wonderful runners I have met along the way who have encouraged and motivated me I have ran several half marathons and just completed my first full.
Hi! I'm Heather and live here in Greensboro (and spend a lot of my time at work in Rockingham County). I started running very slowly in high school, took some years off and got serious about running in 2012 when I ran my first half. I stumbled into a running group (the RUNegades) five years ago and haven't looked back! The runships I've formed are incredible and I love pounding the pavement around Greensboro with friends. I've lived in Greensboro over 20 years and I thought I knew the city well but RuntheBoro has helped me get to know Greensboro even better! I love seeing different parts of the city on foot.
Hey; I'm Melani! Originally from Ohio, I moved to Greensboro nearly 13 years ago. I started running 5 years ago when I joined RunnerDude's Fitness Beginning Running Program and shortly after become a member of the Runegades. Since then I've completed a handful of half marathons, 6 marathons, and a 50k. Most importantly, running with RunnerDude's Fitness has taught me that it's far easier to step outside of your comfort zone and chase big goals when you surround yourself with people who inspire, motivate, and support you. While I love the adventure and shenanigans that come along with exploring our city on foot, the thing I love most about Run The Boro is the supportive environment Thad has created -- because the world could use a whole lot more more heck yeahs, high fives, and "weedoggies"!
Hi, I'm Jane-Marie and I was born in Greensboro and have lived here for most of my life. I started running regularly in my early 30s (about 8 years ago). I started with the 5k distance and with the help of Runnerdude Fitness, worked my way up to running a couple marathons. Now I'm just happy with the half-marathon distance. I have made some great friends through running and look forward to more race travel and adventures with them. Though I've lived here most of my life I still learn something new about Greensboro every summer at RunTheBoro and can't wait to learn more about my favorite city!
Hi , my name is Tammy Toliver and I moved from Bay Shore Long Island to NC in 1996. I currently live in Jamestown. I ran track in Jr high and my sophomore year of high school. I started running again in 2012, to lose weight, but found running as my passion. I’ve run several 5k’s, 10k’s, 11 marathons, 50 half marathons and an Ultra.
I started joining Thad’s RunTheBoro on Saturday mornings, and enjoyed exploring the city and meeting other runners . I joined The RUNegades last year, I’m looking forward to pacing this year and looking forward to the different routes Thad has in store for us.
Hi! I'm Kat. I live in Greensboro. I started with a Run/Walk program on my own 7 years ago and have now completed 5 half marathons and many 5k, 10k and 10 milers. When I attended my first 2016 RunTheBoro, I was nervous about group running as I had always been a solo runner. I wasn't sure I could keep up with the group. I chose the 11:30 - 11:45 ish pace group, which was a challenge for me to keep up with! After my first run, I was hooked. With the encouragement of the pacers and fellow runners, I achieved several time and distance PTs over the rest of the series. 2017, I was a 10:30-10-45 ish pacer for the series. Social running has helped me build my endurance, increase my pace and given me a new supportive community. It's been great fun learning about Greensboro's history, seeing new neighborhoods and making new friends. I can't recommend RunTheBoro highly enough! #RunnerDudeRunnersRock

Hi! I'm Amanda! I live in Greensboro. I started running in 2013 just for fun then I decided to train for my first 5K. RunTheBoro is truly a field trip for runners. You learn so much about the wonderful city we live in and about the History of our City. You also have an amazing time doing it. All levels are welcome so don’t let time or pace stop you. Just come out and enjoy our amazing running community!
Hey there! I am Tana Willse. I have lived in Greensboro since 2001. I have participated in RunTheBoro for a few years. It is a great way to see our awesome city and meet new people. I have been married for 20 years and have 2 children.
Hi! I’m Alison. I've lived in Greensboro, NC since 2012. I started running in 2014 when I joined Fleet Feet Greensboro’s first ever No Boundaries class as a way to round out my fitness routine, but I kept running because of the great people I met along the way. I love RunTheBoro because it fosters a tremendous sense of community, all the while showcasing our beautiful city.
Hi I'm Karen! I live in Browns Summit. I've been running off and on for many years, but I started running consistently five years ago.
What I love the most about Run The Boro is meeting all the wonderful runners, and I also enjoy seeing parts of Greensboro I have never previously seen before I started the Run the Boro series.
Running often makes me feel closer to my dad who passed away about five years ago. Although he wasn’t a runner, he had been a Navy pilot and an avid golfer. In his later years, he suffered from MS like symptoms which really affected his mobility. He then contracted cancer, but he never complained of his pain and limited mobility. He was always kind and thankful to his doctors and nurses. When I run, I think of my dad. If the distances or temperatures get tough, I think of how my dad persevered without complaint, and while I’m definitely not the fastest runner out there, I’m just thankful to have the ability to move!
Hi! I'm Melanie. I started running when I was in middle school and fell back in love with it 10 years ago. Run the Boro is the perfect mix of my favorite things: exploring, running, fun and friendship. There is nothing better than learning about and seeing our wonderful city with friends on foot. I’m so excited to see familiar faces and to make new running connections.
Hi. I'm Christie. I started running when I was 14. This is my 36th year as a runner. I love Run the Boro because it exemplifies how strong this running community truly is. We all have one goal out there -to just run. I have made some valuable friendships at RuntheBoro and am grateful to Thad for this experience.
Hi! I'm Michael. I live in Greensboro, but I am originally from Durham, NC. I started running when I was in middle school, running my first road race, a 5K, in Cary, NC at the age of 13. Running gives me the time to think and enjoy the scenery. I enjoy RunTheBoro because living in Greensboro for onlty a few months has helped me meet new people and learn about the city.
I’m Lou Bray and I started running about 9 years ago. I’m from Durham but moved to Greensboro a little over 4 years ago and thankfully found Runnerdude and RuntheBoro. I love discovering new places and facts about our city and all the fun people I get to meet while running. This is such a fun group and I super excited to see where will run this year.
My name is Tanya Hackney. I have lived in the Triad area for a little over 25 years and have lived in Greensboro, Colfax and now Burlington. I started running in 2014 when my oldest daughter graduated from high school. I had just a little time on my hands and decided I needed to start exercising consistently. Not being and athlete, I didn't know where to start and then my employer sponsored the Women's Only Running School and Women's Only 5k. They offered incentives for employees to participate so I took advantage of the opportunity. I trained for and ran my first 5K in Oct. 2014 and haven't stopped since. In 2016 a friend told me about RunnerDude and I signed up with the RUNegades. Thad's coaching and the amazing people who are part of RUNegades have had a huge impact on me and are a big part of why I continue to run. I have made some wonderful friends and I continue to love something I never thought I would do. Since then I have run 10ks, 10-milers and in May I will run my 6th half marathon. Some of those amazing people have convinced me to tackle my first marathon in the fall of this year. RunTheBoro is a great way for me to explore parts of Greensboro I never knew existed. Too see all the different areas and learn some of the history is a fun way to see the city and get my runs in. Can't wait to meet more amazing people as we RunTheBoro together!
I’m originally from WV and started running about 6 years ago after moving to Greensboro. Initially I was doing it as a temporary solution to lose weight. I started out only being able to run for about 2-3 minutes at a time. Over time, I built up my endurance and actually began to like running. Since then I’ve run in many races ranging from 5K’s to marathons. Running has turned into a social activity for me and I love it! It gives me an opportunity to be active, healthier, and have a great time with friends.
That is also what I enjoy so much about RunTheBoro – so many great people and another way to make running fun. I am very thankful for the Greensboro running community, the lifelong friends I have made through running, and Thad’s willingness to put on such a wonderful program each year. I can’t wait to see what he has planned for 2019 Run The Boro!
Hi all! My name is Renee and I live in Greensboro. I started running in college but didn't get "serious" about it until 2011 when I ran my first half marathon. Since then I've done 12 half marathons (Rock 'n Roll Las Vegas was my favorite), 3 full marathons (Marine Corps Marathon is hands down the best experience I've had in a marathon), and countless 5K's and 10K's (soooo many cotton t-shirts). Guess you could say I really enjoy running! But let's be real, I really enjoy the guilt-free breakfast at Herbie's after a long run knowing I earned every bite! 🙂 I'm looking forward to my first year pacing during RunTheBoro and exploring different parts of Greensboro!
Hi, my name is Kendra and I live in Greensboro. I started running about 6 years ago, initially with RunnerDude’s Beginning running class then the Women’s Only Running School..and have now I have run in 4 half marathons. I still cannot believe it! Running is something I had tried many times on my own without success. So when I decided to give it one more shot, I really wasn’t expecting much to come of it. Well, this time it stuck and the primary reason was turning to group runs and the camaraderie of running with others. Running has brought me many new friends for whom I am very thankful. I am excited for RunTheBoro this year and having a schedule that will allow me to participate in it more fully than I have been able to in the past. Looking forward to seeing all of you on Saturday AMs!
Running keeps me sane. I'm have been running for 25 years and run 5 days a week - it's an addiction. I like to run in new cities when I travel, it has been a great way to learn about a place and where things are

Hi! I'm Kathy! I live in Greensboro. I was one of those people who loved playing sports and absolutely hated to run. I would cringe thinking about the day we had to run the mile in gym class. When I turned 30 a friend said we should do a couch to 5k - I thought she was nuts, but agreed to do it. I enjoyed the experience and figured I had checked that box, now I'll never run again. Then I met my husband who was in the Marine Corps. He thought it would be fun if we ran together. That is if "fun" is someone encouraging you while yelling cadence as you can barely run mailbox to mailbox in the neighbor hood. I kept at it and soon I could run to two mailboxes before stopping to walk, then three, then on and on. Fast forward and the running bug hit me! I've now completed 15 half marathons, 2 marathons (still think that is a crazy distance), and too many 10k and 5ks to count! I use to take running really seriously and would stress out before each group run or race...then I realized with the help of a good friend, that you don't "have to" run you "get to" run! I'm thankful for all the friends I've met through running and looking forward to this season of Run the Boro!

Hi, Susan Carboneau here. I have been running consistently about 5 years. I live in Greensboro, near Military Park. I have run a gamut of distances from 5K, 8k, 10k, 15k, 10-miler, half marathon and 1 FULL marathon. I also ventured in to a sprint triathalon last summer. Running, specifically my running buddies, is my lifeline. I will run any pace above 10:50 comfortably and can be tricked in to many different distances.
I love Run the 'Boro for the great groups it attracts. Every Saturday is like an informal fun run! Hailing from Michigan, I still always have a lot to learn about my adopted home of Greensboro. We are always exploring and learning new stuff. This old dog loves that!
Can't wait to see what 2019 brings for us!
Hi I'm Carolyn! I live in Greensboro and started running in 2009 to complete a 5k with a friend ~ have now finished many 5ks, half-marathons, and a few 10k and 15k races. My goal is to always have fun and enjoy the experience! My favorite race was the Blue Ridge Half in Roanoke, an elevation change of 3,800 feet. RuntheBoro is an enjoyable series of runs, and Thad’s research provides historical perspective to our great city. The best part is meeting new running friends. Join us!
Hi! I'm Melissa! I currently live in Greensboro, NC. I started running in 2013 as to become more active and healthy. I love RunTheBoro because it allows me to be a tourist in my own town and visit parts of the city that I never have been too. It also lets me see some of my favorite areas of town with a new set of eyes.
Hi! I'm Christy! I live in Greensboro. I started running in 2006 as a way to lose weight and found that I enjoy running half marathons. I just finished my 62nd half and am working on completing my 5th marathon. I enjoy RunTheBoro because I have only lived in Greensboro a short time and I am still finding out neat facts or things about the city.
Hi! I'm Donna! I am 52 years old and I live in Jamestown. I started running in the fall of 2014. I started running late in life and I can’t imagine life without it. It is more than exercise it’s my sanity. RunTheBoro is the best! Not only do you get to discover new areas in Greensboro to run, you get to meet some of the nicest and most supportive people ever.
Hi, I'm Grant! I've been running since 2006 and have run 21 half marathons. I enjoy getting to see everyone on the Greenway. RunTheboro is a great way to see new parts of the city and meet new runners that you might have not run by before.
Hi! I’m Adrienne and I live in High Point. I started running about 3 years ago (in my mid-40’s) after first joining a walking group. I was always in band or the arts, never in sports, so this was way outside what I was used to. I was surprised to discover I loved it! I’ve since discovered RunnerDude’s training, the RUNegades program, and Run the Boro, which has been fantastic for me. I love the people and have gone from never even doing a 5K to having completed 3 half marathons. I especially look forward to Run the Boro because there are so many great people and I love exploring the city on foot with new friends!
Hi I'm Snoa and I live in Greensboro! Contrary to popular belief and what my social media may portray, I actually enjoy running and I think Thad and Duncan (#drdoom) are pretty ok. I've been running off and on since high school but got consistent with running once I joined the RunnerDude's Fitness group RUNegades three years ago. I love how supportive the group is and I've made some very special runships! I love RunTheBoro because it allows us to see things we may not notice while driving through Greensboro and I like learning the history behind some of the neighborhoods, houses, and monuments in our beautiful town! My favorite part of RunTheBoro is the people you meet. It's nice to have groups that run the same pace as you because it makes the miles go by faster! You can find me on Instagram (@snoag) to follow my adventures in running and my life as a closet dance mom!
Hi! My name is Amber Johnson. Wife and mother of two kids. I live in Stokesdale. I started my running journey the fall of 2017. Getting to know different areas of Greensboro and meeting new people is the best part of Runtheboro.
Hi! I'm Tiffany, I am from Crystal Lake IL, ( not from the movie, Friday the 13th. 🙂 ) I moved to Greensboro NC 5 years ago. I started running in 2013 to get in shape and help with stress. When I moved to Greensboro I ran with a few groups from Fleet Feet. which led to my first race, the Girls with Peals 5k and I loved it! Since then I trained with Runnerdude fitness and ran my first half marathon, I plan to run two more this year! Running with RunTheBoro has helped me get familiar with my new city and meet some awesome people! My favorite run is the mural run, I absolutely love all the art that is featured in our city!

Hi I’m Simone Hawks-Hamilton, I’m a Jersey girl who has lived in North Carolina for over 20 years. Running came into my life when I was 42 in the form of Black Girls Run. Running is my happy place, whether I am fast or slow. About 2 years ago my friend Amanda suggested we check out this Run the Boro thing and I’m so glad we did! Come out and learn about our amazing city and meet some awesome people.

Hi, I'm Kristen! I started running in middle school, & still remember my very first 5k I did with my dad! I love Run the Boro because of the way in brings together our community as we learn & see different parts of our city. I’ve had the privilege to pace each year & have met several new running friends!

Hi I'm Joy. I am a native of Greensboro and started running in 2006. My first race was the Fun Fourth 10K in 2007 . I have completed 15 Half Marathon’s and ONE Marathon , a bucket list accomplishment! I had to hang up my running shoes and start walking after several knee injuries. I had a full knee replacement in October 2016 which confirmed, running was not in my future. I ride a bike in the spring and summer months, which is great cross-training for runners!
I love the RunTheBoro runs, we see new places, learn new history about Greensboro (even as a native!) and spend Saturday mornings with great runners/walkers. I cherish the friendships I have made with my running peeps.
My mantra is “Believe in yourself and you can do it!”
See everyone in May, the walkers will bring up the rear!! A mile is a mile, regardless how you cover it!

Hello my name is Lillie Boyd. I am a classroom teacher and I really do enjoy walking. I was inspired by my best friend Tanya Hackney, who is a runner. to join the walkers on Saturday mornings. My husband Greg and I came out last year and did the RunTheboro and we loved it. I decided this year to become a pace walker guide and explore more about the city of Greensboro. I am looking forward to becoming a runner by this time next year.

Hi, I’m Mary Beth. I walked RuntheBoro in 2018 as a way to show support for my husband, Tom, who loves to run and is a big fan of Thad’s running program. I was instantly hooked on the Saturday walks around our beautiful city with so many other energetic walkers. Thad does a great job showcasing all the neat and interesting spots around each neighborhood. After completing RuntheBoro, I jumped at the chance to do Runner Dude’s boot camp. I’m not a runner at this time but I keep up my cardio with weekly 5 and 7 mile hikes around Greensboro’s water shed trails and with the PHOC. I’m looking forward to being a pacer this year!
